Mangaluru: Bakrid celebrated with great religious fervour

Mangaluru, Aug 12, 2019: Bakrid, which is also known as Eid-ul-Adha or Eidul-Zuha, is being celebrated by Muslim brethren across the city on August 12, Monday with great religious fervour. The day is marked by special prayers, greetings and gifts.

 

Bakrid is also known as the festival of sacrifice for the Islam faithful. Special prayers were offered in various Idgahs and mosques across the city including the Idgah Maidan at Light House Hill where thousands converged for  the prayers.

The prayers will be followed by feasts with family members, friends and relatives. The festival is being celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices of Prophet Abraham.
