Mangaluru: Appointments to govt hospitals to be made soon

Mangaluru, July 06, 2015: The process to appoint doctors including Ayush specialists in government hospitals will start soon, said Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader. At the inaugural of ’Doctors Day’ organised by Ayush Foundation - Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, at pediatrics department of district Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru July 5.

 

The minister said the recruitment process will start as soon as financial approval is received. The appointments will be done through KPSC. He further said that the proposal for 50-bedded Ayush hospital at the Wenlock hospital premises will be tabled before the Cabinet meeting. From this year, government will confer Ayush awards on senior Ayush doctors.

Stating that the Ayush was a great contribution to the mankind, which has passed down from  generations, the minister said that the Ayush treatment should be integrated with Allopathy and other branches of medicine for the benefit of the suffering. Even though foreigners have been following Ayush, we ourselves are lagging behind in using  benefits of  Ayush.  He called upon the Ayush practitioners to instill confidence among patients that the Ayush could be the first option and not the last one. He felt it was essential for the doctors to have emotional and spiritual quotient.

Both Central and the State governments have chalked out various programmes under the Ayush dept. National Ayush Mission has also been functional in this regard, he said. A memorandum was submitted to the minister by the Foundation, to provide Ayush treatment facility at Primary health centres, to recruit Ayush doctors and to provide more grants to the department.

Senior Ayush doctors Dr Kushala Shetty, Dr N P Anchan, Dr Raviraj Shetty, Dr Sripathi Kinnikambla, Dr Rajgopal Sharma, Dr Jayaprakash Bhat, Dr Ramaiah Bhat and Dr Panicker were felicitated.

District Surgeon Dr Rajeshwari Devi H R, DHO Ramakrishna Rao, District Ayush officer Dr Devdas Putran and Ayush Foundation Chairperson Dr Ashajyothi Rai were present.

Appointment of  lab technicians on contract :

During a meeting with health officials, PDOs and representatives from various hospitals at DC office here July 5,  Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader said the State government was ready to appoint lab technicians on contract basis if there was a need.

 Zilla Panchayat president Asha Timmappa Gowda highlighted the dearth of lab technicians in Puttur taluk. The minister said that the government was ready to appoint lab technicians on contract basis for two years and pay a monthly salary of Rs 7,500. On an allegation that a lab technician locked up the lab, while around 20 patients were waiting for test at Puttur, the Minister asked officials to work with humanity. Th DC said that during health emergency, officials have to work without complaining about dearth of staff and time. The DHO said that a circular had been sent that no normal leave can be granted to any health official in the district at present.
