Mangaluru : 8 yr girl’s presence of mind saves her parents who slipped into a well

Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2016 :  The great presence of mind shown by an eight year old girl has helped in saving her parents who fell into a well in a  curious turn of events  near the Holy Family  School at Bajpe in the outskirts of the city on October 11, Tuesday.

A woman named Pyari Jaan (23) who is a maid in the residence of Bibi Jaan alias Mehrunnis, had been near the well on finding that the pump was out of order. Just as she tried to repair the well, she slipped and fell into the well. Her husband Hussain (25) who was nearby also jumped into the well in order to save his wife.

 The couple’s eight year old daughter Seema, who is a class two student , on realising that her  parents  had fallen into the well, immediately rushed to a nearby school and informed the shopkeeper about the incident. He  soon passed on information to the Bajpe police as well as Kadri fire service personnel who rushed to the spot and rescued the two with the help of locals.

 The couple have suffered minor injuries. The house owner Bibi Jaan is  80 years old and as her children stayed elsewhere , the couple took care of her and other household chores. The couple were provided treatment at the local Primary Health Centre.
