Mangaluru : 70th Republic Day celebrated with patriotic zeal

Mangaluru, Jan 26, 2019:  The 70th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Nehru Maidan in the city on January 26, Saturday. DK District in-charge Minister U T Khader unfurled the national tricolour. He also received the guard of honour and inspected a colourful parade held to mark the occasion by the police personnel, Bharath Seva Dal volunteers and NCC cadets.

 

 

 

 

Speaking on  the occasion,  the Minister stressed the need for unity and harmony in a  vast nation like India which is  known for its diversity. He also elaborated on the various developmental initiatives of the government in Dakshina Kannada.

Government employees who have rendered exceptional service were conferred Sarvottama Seva Prashasti on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, District Superintendent of Police B M Laxmi Prasad, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Ivan D’Souza, ZP Chief Meenakshi Shanthigodu,  Mayor Bhasker Moily and others were present.
