Mangaluru, Feb 04, 2019 : 30th National Road Safety Week ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ inaugurated by Police Commissioner T R Suresh. It is jointly organised by District administration and Road Transport Authority from February 04 to 10.
Earlier a colourful procession which was taken out to the function venue. Students of various colleges participated in the procession holding placards on road safety. The traffic problem confronting the city can be solved to a great extent if each and every citizen opts to serve as a traffic warden at least for an hour every week.
The aim of this programme is to enlighten on traffic rules. Road safety week is all about creating awareness about the traffic rules and hence reducing accidents
DCP crime and traffic Uma Prashanth welcomed the gathering. Canara Bank Assistant General Manager Ramdas, DCP law and order Hanumantharaya, ACP Traffic Manjunath Shetty, Superintendent of Police Laxmi Prasad, RTO officer John B Misquith and others were present.
