Mangaluru: 2 held with foreign currency worth Rs.6.49 lakh at airport

Mangaluru, May 20, 2015: The customs officers at Mangalore International Airport seized foreign currencies worth 6,600 British Pounds, equivalent to around Rs. 6.49 lakhs from two passengers on Wednesday May 20.

The passengers are identified as Muhammed Salih Yarool (36) and Muhammed Ashraf Abdulla (35), both hailing from Pallikere, Kasargod.

Both the said passengers attempted to smuggle the foreign currencies out of India without valid money exchange documents, at GBP 3,300 each on Wednesday morning at the time of their departure from Mangaluru by Air India Express flight number IX383 to Dubai at Mangalore International Airport, said a release from the customs Office.
