Mangaluru: 126th Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrated

Mangaluru, April 14, 2017 : The 126th birth anniversary  celebrations of the architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar was celebrated at Town Hall on April 14 Friday under the aegis of the DK District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Mangaluru City Corporation and Social Welfare Department.

 

 

Speaking after inaugurating the event DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai  exhorted people to  make all possible effort to preserve the essence and spirit of the Indian constitution drafted by Ambedkar with the objective of achieving equality and a life of self-respect to all.

Outstanding achievers in various fields namely Keerthi Kumari, Dr Ashalatha P, Shailesh Kotian, Umesh K and Sanjeev Sooterpete were felicitated. Various facilities provided by the government were also distributed to beneficiaries.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC and  Chief Whip of State Legislative Council,  Moidin Bava, MLA, Kavita Sanil, Mayor, Rajaneesh, Deputy Mayor, Dr K  G Jagadeesha, Deputy Commissioner,  M Chandra Sekhar, City Police Commissioner, Bhushan G Borase, District Superintendent of Police ,  Mohammad Nazeer, MCC Commissioner, Meenakshi Shantigodu, ZP President, Kumar, Additional DC, Shantharaju, Sanjeeva Patil, DCPs, Dr Hanumanthappa, Forest Conservator and others were present.
