Mangaluru: 10 arrested for medical seat fraud

Mangaluru, Sep 10, 2017: Kadri Police have arrested ten persons on the charges of cheating after promising MBBS seats at a private  college in Mangaluru.

Two DDs worth  Rs 5.40 lakhs,  20 mobile  phones, two laptops, one I-pad,  cash of Rs 10 lakhs,  two cars and the seals of AJ Institute of Medical  Sciences and K S Hegde Medical Academy, Derlakatte have been seized from the accused.

Those arrested are Ajay Nayak Mukherjee (41) of West Bengal, Saurav Gupta alias Diwaker (32) of Lucknow, Anup Singh (35) of Jarkhand, Swapan Biswas alias Mahesh Kumar (54) of Kolkata, Rajeev Kumar A of Hyderabad,  Anil Tuljiram Samtani alias Jayesh Ranglani (62), Manish Kumar Shah (30) of Jarkhand, Deeraj Sharma alias Vikram (30) and Sanjay Kumar Mahattur (26).

It is learnt the accused had fled  with two DDs of Rs 5.4 lakhs  after posing themselves as office bearers of AJ Medical College before  the children of Mahendra of Rajasthan and Kamal Singh Raj Purohit of Delhi.

Following a complaint by Purohit, the police launched a manhunt and arrested the ten accused.
