Mangalorean Justice Abdul Nazeer among the 5 new judges of Supreme Court

Mangaluru, Feb 19, 2017: The Supreme Court on Friday got five new judges taking its total strength to 28. Moodbidri based Justice S. Abdul Nazeer who was the senior judge of Karnataka High Court was also elevated as the judge of Supreme Court.

Justice Abdul Nazeer was born on 5th Jan 1958 in Beluvai near Moodbidri. He is among 6 children of Fakir Saheb.

Justice Nazeer did his graduation in Commerce at Mahaveera College, Moodbidri and obtained law degree from SDM Law College, Mangaluru. He enrolled as an Advocate on 18th Feb 1983. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on 12th May 2003 and as a Permanent Judge on 24th September 2004.

Boosting the strength of the Supreme Court, the President of India on the recommendation of the collegium has appointed five new judges to the apex court.

The new judges are Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court Shantanagoudar Mohan Mallikarjunagouda, Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court Navin Sinha, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court Deepak Gupta and Karnataka High Court judge S. Abdul Nazeer.
