Mangalore University does a fine hat-trick at all India meet

Moodbidri, Nov 29, 2018: Mangalore University achieved a hat-trick of titles in the All-India inter-university athletics meet, powering to victory in a convincing manner on their home turf at the Swarajya Stadium Moodbidri.

Mangalore finished with a tally of 188 points, leaving Mahatma Gandhi University (Kottayam) way behind at 109 points. Mangalore won the men’s title with 110 points and women’s crown with 78.

On the final day, Anil Kumar (half-marathon) and Sheetal Bhagat (women’s 3000m steeplechase) fetched gold medals for the home team. Mangalore’s 4x400 relay team also triumphed in the men’s section.

In women’s pole vault, Maria Jaison of Jain University struck gold with a clearance of 3.80 metres, her personal best.
