Mangalore, Aug 7, 2014: The DK District Committee of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) staged a protest in front of the DC office in the city on August 6, Wednesday to condemn the irregularities in selection for the post of gazetted probationers through the Karnataka Public Services Commission in 2011.
The protestors demanded that the selected candidates be given conditional appointment letters as per the KAT and State High Court ruling.
Abdul Jaleel Krishnapura, State General Secretary of the Social Democratic Trade Union who addressed the protestors said it was unjustifiable on the part of the KPSC to state that it is not empowered to hold re-evaluation and re-interview though the state cabinet had decided in this regard.
He said the government ought to have intervened and protected the interest of the candidates in the case.
SDPI State Committee Member Alphonso Franko, SDPI District Secretary Mohammad Riyaz, SDPI State Secretary Akram Hassan and others participated in the protest.
