Mangalore, Feb 25, 2014: In a first of its kind initiative by a co-operative bank, the SCDCC Bank has launched RuPay Kissan Card and RuPay Debit Card. The two cards were released by G.R. Chinthala, Chief General Manager of NABARD, Bangalore at a function held at the SCDCC Bank premises at Kodialbail in the city on February 25, Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Chinthala said farmers of the district were lucky to avail such modern banking facilities. He said RuPay Kissan and RuPay Debit Cards were introduced by the SCDCC Bank with the co-operation of NABARD.
The new cards will facilitate farmers as they need not visit banks every time for cash withdrawals, he informed.
SCDCC Bank Chairman M.N. Rajendra Kumar who presided over the function said the card can be used in any ATMs across the nation. He said RuPay Cards can be used only in ATMs subject to a maximum withdrawal of Rs 25000 per day. He said the bank would not charge anything for five transactions a month while a nominal fee of Rs 20 will be charged for more than 5 transactions. A sum of Rs 1.46 crore has been sanctioned by NABARD for this project, Rajendra Kumar informed.
Rajendra Poojar, Deputy General Manager of IDBI, Gopalkrishna Bhat, Managing Director of SCDCC Bank and others were present.
