Mangalore : PVS, MG Road gets ’swachch’ treatment

Mangaluru, June 01, 2015: Volunteers and students from the Ramakrishna Mission took part for the 18th Sunday (of the 41 scheduled) on May 31, in a holistic cleaning campaign ‘Swachch Mangaluru’ . The high mast lamp base at the busy PVS Circle got a lawn with a fresh look, and the worn-out sign boards of M.G. Road got a face lift.

They  volunteers were divided into different teams to take up cleaning work on parts of M.G. Road, PVS Circle and Jail Road.  The work  covered  the 100m-long roadside drain with cement blocks to allow pedestrians to walk freely. This was done on the stretch between Jail Road junction and PVS Circle.

The work  done by volunteers included a fresh coat of paint to sign boards at M.G. Road 5th Cross, M.G. Road 8th Cross and the Jail Road. A new signboard was placed at the M.G. Road 9th Cross Road. Lawn was made at the pedestal of the high mast lamp at the PVS Circle. Garbage accumulated in the drains on Jail Road was removed and shifted  out in a truck.  In general people were edified that that the area was brighter and cleaner giving happiness to all.
