Mangalore: Lokayukta raid on Tourist Info Office; Two trapped red handed

Mangalore, Sep 11, 2014: Lokayukta sleuths have raided the Tourist Information Office in Lalabagh and trapped Assistant Director Jithendranath and Couputer Operator Anusha red handed on Thursday, Sep 11.

 

Based on a complaint filed by Roshan Mascarenhas, a resident of Puttur, Lokayukta officials have conducted raid and trapped the duo.

 

 

The background of the incident is that Mascarenhas had applied for a taxi under the self employment scheme of the department, which is distributed with a government subsidy of Rs 2 lakh. Jithendranath asked Mascarenhas to pay Rs 7,000 as bribe to sanction taxi when the application submitted by him was approved, said Lokayukta inspector Vijaya Prasad.

 

Lokayukta team led by sub-inspector Vijaya Prasad and Dilip Kumar conducted the operation. Further investigations are on.
