Mangalore: LIC agents stage protest against privatisation moves

Mangalore, Feb 1, 2014: LIC agents under the aegis of the LIC Agents Organisation of India took out a protest march from LIC office at Pandeshwar to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city on February 1, Saturday. They also staged a demonstration in front of the DC office condemning the  Union government moves towards privatisation and also demanding that the service tax levied on insurance premium be revoked.

Ramesh Kumar, state unit Secretary of the Organisation who spoke on the occasion, came down heavily on the Union Government for its moves to privatise the PSUs in insurance, telecommunication and banking sectors by encouraging FDI.

Strongly condemning the government decision to reduce the Commission of LIC agents, they appealed that the order be withdrawn.

Several LIC agents and leaders of the Organisation namely Gangadhar Salian, President of the Udupi branch. Sunil Kumar Bajal, Honorary President and others participated in the protest.
