Mangalore, Feb 27, 2014 : An English-Kannada-Konkani tri-lingual dictionary brought out by the Partha Darshini Seva Trust was released at a function held at Kalangann at Shaktinagar on February 25, Wednesday,
Speaking as a chief guest, Dr. KV Narayana, eminent linguist said learning of one or more languages will contribute to intellectual development. Konkani speaking people who know more than one language, have gained more than losing anything in this regard, he further added.
Dr Narayana further said absence of a script of its own has never hindered Konkani language. The English-Kannada dictionary was released by Saara Aboobakker while the English-Konkani dictionary was released by eminent writer Na. D’Souya English-Kannada-Konkani dictionary was released by Dr KV Narayana.
Prof. Stephen Quadras and Fr Basil Vas were commended by Na. D’Souza for their efforts in bringing out the dictionary.
The function was presided over by Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore. Prof. Priyadarshini S Tadgodkar, Head of the Department of Konkani of Goa University was the chief guest.
