Mangalore: DRI officials seize foreign currency worth Rs. 13,39,000/- in Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Feb 28: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials in Mangalore International Airport arrest a passenger carrying foreign currencies valued Rs. 13,3900/ on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

The traveler is identified as Nizamuddin Abdul Khader, hailing from Kalanadu, Kasargod, Kerala. Nizamiddin was trying to smuggle 9,900 UK pound sterling and 5,800 Australian Dollar from India to Dubai. He was to travel by Air India Express IX 813 on 27-02-2014, 11.15PM.

 

On advance information, the DRI officials intercepted the passenger and searched his luggage bags. The foreign currencies were concealed under the dress materials in a trolley bag. He was arrested and taken into custody. Legal action is being pursued.
