Mandd Sobhann bags Pingara Rajyotsava award 2010

Mangalore, Oct 28: Raymond D’Cunha, the editor of Pingara, announced that Pingara Balaga will confer its Pingara Rajyotsava 2010 Award on Mandd Sobhann for its service to the Konkani-speaking people irrespective of caste, community, or religion. He was addressing reporters at a press conference held at Press Club on Oct 28, Thursday.

Explaining the choice of Mandd Sobhann for the award, he said that the Kannada weekly has decided to honour Mandd Sobhann with this award in recognition of its service to Konkani language, literature, and culture.

Executive Director of Shri Dharmasthala Gramabhivriddhi Yojana Dr. L. H. Manjunath will be the chief guest of the awards ceremony, which will be held at Mangalore Town Hall on Nov 9 at 5:30 p.m. Sandeepani Sadhanashrama Seer Kemaru Esha Vittaladasa will bless the occasion. President of Magnum Intergraphix Sudheer P. Ghate will preside over the programme.

Harikrishna Punaroor, former President of Kannada Sahithya Parishat, Fr William Menezes, PRO of Mangalore Diocese, Roy Castalino, Youth leader of Konkani Prachar, Janardhana Hande and others participated as juries.

Dr. Mohan Alva, the president of Alva’s Education Trust, and Abhayachandra Jain, the MLA of Moodubidri, will be the honourary guest and Jyothika Jain, the owner of Devika Sarees, will be the guest of honour, he said.
