Man reveals ATM card details to fraudster; loses Rs 18,000

Mangaluru: July 3, 2015: In a yet another case of ATM fraud in Mangaluru, a resident of Maroli has lost Rs 18,000 from his bank account.

The victim, a temporary employee at NITK had reportedly shared his ATM card details with a fraudster.

The victim who holds an account in a private bank in Mangaluru had received a call  about 15 days ago from a stranger claiming to be calling from the bank. The stranger told  the victim that his ATM account had got blocked and he   needed the old pin to verify it.

The caller read out the entire number of the ATM card, which made the account holder believe that he was calling from the bank and he duly revealed his ATM card pin.

 Later, when  he went to the bank to check his account he found that Rs 18000 has been withdrawn soon after the call. He immediately lodged a complaint at Suratkal police station.

 The police are now investigating the case.
