Man pushed into well over failure to repay money

Udupi, Feb 15, 2020:  A man was killed allegedly because he failed to repay a loan of Rs. 2,500, at Heggunje village coming under the Brahmavar police station limits in Udupi district on Friday. According to a complaint lodged with the Brahmavar police, the complainant, Radha Bai, stated that a person, Sunil Shetty, came to their house and asked for her son, Manoj, 21.

He claimed that Manoj had taken Rs. 2,500 from him two years ago.

Manoj, who was sleeping, got up and said that he would take money from a bank at Mandarti village and give it to him [Sunil]. But Sunil allegedly insisted that he wanted the money them.

Then Manoj walked towards the well and Sunil also went with him.

After some time, Sunil came back and said that Manoj had fallen in the well and fled from the spot, Ms. Radha stated in her complaint.

A case of murder has been registered at the Brahmavar police station and investigation is on, the police added.
