Man posing as CBI DGP arrested

Sullia, Sep 19, 2014:  The police arrested a man who allegedly used to cheat people of cash by posing as a CBI officer. The arrested is one Ravi Nair of Palakkad, in Kerala. He had arrived in Sullia four months ago and was staying in a lodge by introducing himself as CBI Director General of Police.

arrest_He was speaking fluently in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Tulu languages. He also posses a car with Delhi registration.

He borrowed money from lodge manager Radhakrishna and even promised a job to Radhakrishna’s relative and had borrowed Rs 1.20 lakh from him. He had not paid the rent for the room. In his complaint, lodge manager said that he had vacated the room last month and was residing in Srirangapattana. When the latter asked for the money he had borrowed, Nair had allegedly threatened him.

Suspecting his intention, he had filed a complaint to the Sullia police, who in turn arrested him in Srirangapattana. During the interrogation, his true antecedents were revealed. The arrested Ravi Nair was produced to the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
