Man gets 12 years RI for kidnap, rape of minor girl

Mangaluru, Oct 14, 2021: The POCSO Court at the Mangaluru Additional Sessions Court has sentenced a man to 12 years of rigorous imprisonmnet in a case of kidnap and rape of a minor girl.

 

The convict is Mallikarjuna Hanumanthappa (27), a labourer from Gadag who is a resident of Kavoor police station limits.

The victim’s father and  Hanumanthappa were friends and used to go to work together. In May 2017, Hanumanthappa had  lured the 16 year old girl of marriage and had kidnapped her.

He was in Goa with the girl and had raped her continuously. The girl had also delivered a baby at the Goa hospital after which Hanumanthappa had abandoned the mother and child and had fled the place.

Later, the victim’s parents   brought her back home and had lodged a complaint at Kavoor police station.
