Man assaulted at Farangipete for talking to woman

Mangaluru, July 30, 2018: A group assaulted a man for talking to a woman from another community, at Farangipete in Bantwal Rural police station limits on July 29, Sunday.

A release from the Dakshina Kannada district police here said that Suresh from Udupi district was on his way from Bantwal to his place when the incident occurred. He stopped his car at Farangipet on noticing the woman he knew and exchanged pleasantries with her before leaving. The men who noticed this waylaid him and questioned as to why he should talk to a woman from their community and assaulted him. On learning about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and dispersed the group. Mr. Suresh received treatment at Bantwal Government Hospital, and the police have registered a case.

B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda, SP, said they have definite clues about the accused and would nab them. The woman was sent home with her relatives, he said.
