Man arrested on charge of sexual assault

Puttur, Sep 24, 2018: The Puttur Rural police on Sunday arrested Haji Mohammed Kunhi, 68, of Paduvanooru village near Puttur for alleged sexual assault of an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) on September 20.

Kunhi was accused of pulling the hand of ASHA worker and attempting to sexually assault her when she was returning home from work. He was reportedly at large for the last three days.

On Sunday, the police arrested him for offences under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 354 (sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before the local magistrate, who remanded him to 15 days of judicial custody.
