Man arrested for sexual assault on 16-year-old girl

Mangaluru, Aug 06, 2018: A 26-year-old man was arrested by Venur police for alleged sexual assault on his 16-year-old relative.

The arrest followed a compliant by the girl on Sunday.

In her complaint, the girl said that her distant relative forced her to have sexual intercourse with him some time ago.

On Saturday, she went to a hospital for medical check-up where the doctor told her that she was three months pregnant.

The Venur police arrested the 26-year-old man for the offence under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

It was four days ago that the girl’s 50-year-old mother died after she consumed a poisonous substance.

The girl is among the four children of the deceased woman.
