Man arrested for blackmailing woman on Facebook

Udupi, Oct 22, 2012 : The Udupi police have arrested a man from Sirsi in Uttara Kannada for uploading photos of a young woman on his Facebook profile to create the impression that she was married to him.

 

The young woman, a resident of Bannanje, lodged a complaint with the Udupi police tha Manikantha of Gandhinagar in Sirsi had uploaded her photos on his profile to create the impression that they were married. She also accused him of blackmailing her.

Educated people are upset about the rising number of cyber crimes in the twin districts. A psychology lecturer said that social networking sites, which were established to strengthen human relationships, are being abused by anti-social and sick individuals.
