Udupi, Feb 2, 2017:  Congress leader Sathish Ammen Padukere said, that the allegations made by former MLA Raghupthy Bhat are false. The construction work on Malpe-Padukere bridge at a cost of Rs 16.86 crore, will be completed by February end.

Sathish Ammen The former MLA, who hurriedly laid the foundation stone for the bridge during his tenure due to elections, had left the project unattended and unplanned. It can be regarded as the height of recklessness and the former MLA blames others, which is ridiculous. The planning and cost estimation for the proposed bridge took some time and the work began following the tendering.

He said that the bridge, which was proposed to be completed much before, but was delayed due to finance crunch. The district in-charge minister somehow managed to pool funds from CMC, SFC and Amruthotsava Scheme. Besides, the funds were also pooled for the two connective stretches for the bridge. The proposal did not comprise the two connective stretches in the blue print.

Responding to the deadline given by the former MLA Raghupathy Bhat for the completion of the bridge, Padukere said the deadline does not serve any cause. He said the work would get over by February and the work would be of good quality.
