Major fraud : Bengaluru cops arrest woman from an apartment in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 11, 2015:  A woman residing in a flat at Kalakunj Road in the city was arrested by the Tilaknagar Police of Bengaluru on May 10, Sunday over a fraud case reported from the state capital wherein several have been cheated to the tune of nearly Rs 3 crores.

According to the police, the woman identified as Gowri, wife of Suhas   along with six others had cheated many persons after collecting cash from them with a promise to offer BDA sites. It is learnt, they even claimed that they knew several influential persons.

It is said the arrested woman Gowri also hailed from Bengaluru and lived in the flat at Kalakunj Road since two years.  Police say even her mother Meera Padiyar is the first accused in the case. All of them are facing charges under sections 420, 465, 471 and 478 of the IPC.


Police sources also revealed that Meera Padiyar who is absconding  along with her husband had availed a huge sum as loan from a bank  with the objective of making a Konkani movie. It is said the movie failed to succeed and the duo had not repaid the loan.

Meanwhile, Gowri’s husband Suhas who is also one of the accused in the case is absconding. The couple has a child aged around three.  When the Police had arrived at her apartment to arrest her, social activist MG Hegde who was present, had an altercation with the cops stating that the woman should not be arrested when her husband was away.

The Tilaknagar police have taken Gowri to Bengaluru for further interrogation.
