Mangaluru, Feb 17, 2015: Mahashivaratri is being celebrated on February 16, Monday by observing fast and performing pooja in honour of Lord Shiva. Maha Shivarathri means “a night devoted to Lord Shiva” and arrives on the 14th day of the waning moon during the month of Margashira, according to the Hindu calendar.
Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva including Sri Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli, Sri Manjunatha Temple at Kadri, Somanatheshwara Temple in Ullal, Mahalingeshwara Temple at Kavoor and Panchalingeshwara Temple in Pandeshwar are holding special rituals and prayers on this auspicious day.
Devotees are thronging the temple to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva and invoke his blessings.
