Magicians inspire for a clean Mangaluru city

Mangaluru, Feb 24, 2015: ’World Magicians Day’, February 23, the artistes from Mangala Magic Circle made an effort to create awareness about clean city with ’Kankat 2015’, a Jadoo Jatha from Deputy Commissioner’s office to Kadri Park here.

DK DC A B Ibrahim officially saw off the jatha making a bundle of waste disappear using a magic stick. Mangala Magic Circle President Swarna Sunder said it is a symbol Mangalore can be a plastic-free city. Organised in association with Canara Plastic Manufacturers & Traders Association (CPMTA), magicians said recycling plastic is more practical than banning and showed through magic how plastic can be converted into oil, which can be used as fuel.

National award winner specially-abled magician Puttur Suresh Nayak performed magic. He congratulated five-year-old Puttur Sathwik Nayak who won a national award. He appreciated the whole team for using the art for a good cause and hoped it would help in creating awareness.

Member of MMC, street magician Sagar performed ’Buried in ice’ stunt at Kadri Park later in the evening. Sagar was tied with 40-feet chain, placed inside the six- feet glass box filled with ice and locked using 12 locks, but he escaped safely. The Gala Magic Show performed by 15 magicians like Prahlad Acharya, Pradeep Suri, Dr S Kundar, Coorg magician Vikram Shetty, Prof Pangala Shenoy, Lolaksha Jadugar, Sriranga Kamath, Samarth Shenoy, Mubeena Parveen Taj, Shama Parveen Taj, Mali sisters, Suresh and Satish Puttur, Vishaka and Vineeth Rao, Srikanth Indra and Sridhar enthralled the onlookers.  It inspired Mangaluru to be a ’Swatcha’ city soon.
