Madikeri : Mother-daughter slip to death while washing clothes

Madikeri, Oct  17,2016: A young housewife and her 11 year old daughter slipped to death while washing clothes in a water filled stone quarry pit  near Kodlipet in Kallare village on October 16, Sunday.

The deceased are Shobha (29) and her daughter Vidyashree. As it was a holiday the little girl had accompanied her mother while washing clothes, only to meet  a tragic end.

It is said Vidyashree slipped into the water accidentally while standing along with her mother. Seeing her daughter drowning,  a panic-stricken Shobha too jumped into the water only to be drowned.

Shobha’s son who was playing nearby on coming to know about the incident, informed locals who rushed to the spot. The bodies were later retrieved with the help of fishermen.

The deceased Shobha was the wife of Kallare resident Anand who is a labourer.
