Madgoan-Mangaluru Central Train derailed at Mangaluru Junction

Mangaluru July 16, 2016: One of the coaches of Madgaon-Mangaluru Central DEMU train (70105) derailed at Mangaluru Junction Railway Station today July 16 Saturday.

The derailment occurred soon after the train left Mangaluru Junction at 12.32 pm towards Mangaluru Central, there were 11 passengers in the train, who were refunded the amount, however there was no casualty, said a senior Railway official.

While rear portion of the derailed rake is kept on the track at Mangaluru Junction, the front portion moved towards to Mangaluru Central. After re-railing the derailed coach, the portion of the rake would be sent to Mangaluru Central.

Meanwhile the return trip of the DEMU (70106) remained cancelled even as the Railway authorities provided an unscheduled stop to Mangaluru Central-Mumbai LTT Matsyagandha Express at Mangaluru Junction to facilitate passengers waiting to board the DEMU to proceed with their planned journey.

Meanwhile, several trains on the sector got delayed as only one line was available to receive and dispatch trains at Mangaluru Junction.  At least one and half hour delay would be there till about 5 pm, the official said.
