MRPL donates ambulances to four taluk hospitals

Mangaluru, Oct 31, 2019: District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday handed over four ambulances, donated by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., (MRPL), to four taluk government hospitals at Bantwal near here, The Hindu reported.

A release from MRPL said Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, U. Rajesh Naik, Bantwal MLA, zilla panchayat president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, District Health Officer M. Ramakrishna Rao and others were present. The project was part of the corporate social responsibility initiatives of the company.

Mr. Poojary thanked MRPL for the gesture and Mr. Kateel also praised the firm for taking up rural healthcare as part of its CSR contribution.

Mr. Rao that while Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia taluk hospitals were using old ambulances, the ambulance in Belthangady hospital turned defunct a few weeks ago.

Dr. Rao said these ambulances will also be used to bring patients from the taluk hospitals to the Government Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospitals in Mangaluru. Services of these four ambulances will be in addition to services of ambulances available by calling 108, he said.
