MP Shobha visits residence of Ratna; says she would appeal for COD probe

Kundapur, July 28, 2014 : Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje on July 27, Sunday visited the residence of Ratna Kottari, a PUC student of Alandur Konanamakki who died under suspicious circumstances recently. The MP consoled the grieving parents of the girl and assured justice.


shobha  1The MP who was accompanied by BJP leaders of Kundapur, Byndoor and Udupi also sought details regarding the incident from the family.
Speaking to reporters later, the MP said at the outset it is evident that it was a rape and murder and added the police investigation was not satisfactory.  Suspecting that some influential persons might be behind the case, she also alleged that there was a ploy to systematically hush up the case.

She said she has already written to State Home Minister KJ George with a demand for a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family and also a thorough probe.

She said she would once again speak to the Chief Minister and Home Minister seeking CPD probe into the case.

To a question on rising sexual crimes against women in the state, the MP said the there has been a complete breakdown of law and order situation in the state. “I have a doubt if the government is dead for the women in the state,” Shobha said and demanded stern punishment to rapists.

Tingale Vikramanrjun Hegde, Udupi District BJP President, Gururaj Uppunda, General Secretary, Geethanjali Suvarna, Vice President,Shyamala Kunder, State BJP Secretary,  and several party leaders were present.
