Udupi, Feb 15,2017: Addressing a meeting organised by the BJP Slum Morcha on Feb 14, Tuesday, Shobha Karandlaje, Lok Sabha member from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency  has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was determined to provide shelter to all the homeless people and the Centre was chalking out an action plan to realize the target by 2019.

shobhaMP Shoba  said, several cities of the state, including Bengaluru, have been listed under Smart City project. The Central government’s dream is to make India a slum-free country. Shobha took the opportunity to criticise the state government for its “negligence” in providing basic facilities to the people. She said that the Congress government in the state has been levelling counter allegations to cover its faults.

Commenting on the recent CD issue, which showed BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa and Union Minister Ananth Kumar discussing about funding the party, Shobha said, the complete details about the discussion should be released. She alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has lost the support of a majority of the legislators, had given money to the Congress high command to save his position. He should tender his resignation immediately, she demanded.

MLA C T Ravi, who also attended the meeting said that the Centre was working for the benefit of the people. “But the state government has failed to address the problems of the people. The BJP workers should explain about the failure of the Congress government to the people.”

Ravi said that the Congress had released a CD to divert the attention of the people from the main issue. If the allegations by the BJP leaders are not true, let the government ask the Income Tax department to reveal the details in the diary to the public.

The Congress leaders fear that the diary would open a Pandora’s box, causing more damage. MLA Govindaraju should resign on moral grounds, he stressed. Commenting on AIADMK leader Sashikala being sentenced to jail, he described the verdict of the Supreme Court ‘historical’. It sounds the death-knell for those amassing disproportionate assets.
