MP Nalin Kumar meets PM; submits report and memorandum to PM

Mangaluru, Aug 03, 2019: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented a report with current statistics on PM’s flagship programmes by  MP Nalin Kumar Kateel of DK.  The flagship programmes include Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana in Dakshina Kannada district.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also submitted a memorandum on the development projects which need to be taken up in Dakshina Kannada district.

The demands placed before the prime minister are the setting up of a Central University, an IT Park, a super speciality hospital or an All India Institute of Medical Sciences to the district and the upgradation of Fisheries College in Mangaluru.

Responding to the report, Modi said that he has a great love for the people of Dakshina Kannada and added that he will convene a meeting of the officials to look into the projects that need to be implemented in Dakshina Kannada district.

Progress review :   In Dakshina Kannada, banks have dispersed loan under Mudra yojana amounting to Rs 1677.10 crore to 1,12,112 persons as on March 31, including Rs 207.26 crore under Shishu, Rs 908.15 crore under Kishore and Rs 561.69 crore under Tarun schemes.

In 2015-16, Rs 49744 lakh loan was dispersed among 37,273 beneficiaries. In 2016-17, Rs 46998 lakh was dispersed among 27408 persons. In 2017-18, Rs 38362 lakh was dispersed among 25,896 persons while in 2018-19,  Rs 32,606 lakh was dispersed among 21,535 persons under Mudra Yojana. Under social security schemes, namely PMJJBY, the banks in Dakshina Kannada have enrolled 1.71 lakh beneficiaries. Totally, 362 claims have been settled with a sum of Rs 724 lakh under the scheme. Similarly, under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, the banks have enrolled 3.98 lakh beneficiaries and 154 claims have been settled with a total of Rs 308 lakh amount.

Under Atal Pension Yojana, the banks have enrolled 48,137 beneficiaries as on March 31. In this, 22,572 beneficiaries  get monthly pension of Rs 1,000, 7,463 beneficiaries get monthly pension of Rs 2,000, 5,683 get a pension of Rs 3,000, 5,511 get monthly pension of Rs 4,000 and 6,908 beneficiaries get monthly pension of Rs 5,000. Under PMJDY, 3,64,514 accounts have been opened. About 2,81,909 RuPay cards have been issued. Syndicate Bank has opened the highest number of accounts (98,328) and has distributed 76,564 RuPay cards so far.

Super specialty hospital for M’luru :

Threafter, MP Nalin Kumar called on Dr Harshavardhan, union minister for health and family welfare in the capital  and urged him to grant a super specialty hospital to the city of Mangaluru under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakhsha Yojana’ scheme.

MP Nlin highlighted that the establishment of a super specialty hospital in Mangaluru will encourage health sector in the coastal region of Karnataka and additionally, the public will find it convenient to avail advanced treatment at reasonable rates.

The MP invited the minister to be the chief guest for the ‘Guru Vandana Chathra Abhinandana’ programme, which is organized by the Bharath Vikas Parishad in Mangaluru on September 14. He also requested the minister to inaugurate the new hospital built at Kateel, which will be run by Manipal Academy of Higher Education, on October 7 and also to visit the campus of Manipal Academy of Higher Education on the same day or on October 5. In the response, the minister assured that he will take part in some of these programmes.
