MN Rajendra Kumar to invest Rs. 6,000 crore in fertilizer plant

Mangaluru, Jan 20, 2019: MN Rajendra Kumar has consented to invest Rs. 6,000 crore to start a fertilizer plant in Karnataka in his position as the President of Karnataka State Marketing Federation, revealed DV Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers on Saturday.

He was addressing a gathering at Nehru Maidan here to mark the completion of 25 years by Rajendra Kumar as the President of SCDC Bank. He hoped that the State Government would allocate necessary land for the same.

Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, presented the ‘Sahakari Bhushana’ award to Kumar. He lauded the efforts of Kumar in empowering the rural people through the self-help group ‘Navodaya’.


Kumar on receiving the award pointed out that no farmer in Dakshina Kannada had committed suicide due to financial crisis. “The credit goes to co-operative societies who provide loans to farmers and unlike other districts farmers in D.K. repay loans on time”, he said.

Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister for Co-operation Bandeppa Kashempur, leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary who spoke on the occasion, lauded the efforts of M N Rajendra Kumar.

The ‘Badavara Bandhu’ programme of the State Government was officially launched by handing over cheques to beneficiaries on the occasion. A book ‘Sahakari Veera’ penned by Senior Journalist P B Hareesh was released. A souvenir to mark the completion of 25 years as President of SCDCC Bank by Rajendra Kumar was released by Dr. Heggade.
