Dr. P Dayanand Pai made a speech after receiving the award, in which he said that people must serve society without expecting any honor in return. They must do what is expected of them much better than what is expected, he urged. He said that, people must avoid falling on their knees and praying to God. Instead, they must spend that time on serving the poor and the needy. This will please God more, and He will shower favors on those who serve the needy.

He also said that, in spite of the technological developments of the present world, people lack leadership qualities. Striking a comparison between leader and fire, he said that they have a number of similarities. Just as fire can destroy as well as comfort people, leaders can build as well as destroy a nation, he said.

He said that, when people say that leaders are born and not made, they are fostering a myth. This is a completely false statement because the leaders of the present are made by certain powers.
