Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2015 : The District JD(S) President Mohammad Kunhi has accused the Congress leaders of luring the party supporters by distributing cash so that they would vote for the party’s official candidate instead of the rebels or other candidates in the recently held MLC elections.
Speaking to reporters here, he alleged that voters were given cash ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 in panchayats like Bantwal, Puttur and Belthangady so that they would vote for the party’s official candidate Pratapchandra Shetty.
Stating that the party has stooped so low that it bribed its own partymen, he said the JD(S) has already complained to the Election Commission. It has also apprised Party President HD Deve Gowda and State JD(S) Chief HD Kumaraswamy about this, he informed.
Alleging that people are disillusioned with the Congress rule, he said corruption has become rampant, while sand mafia was also thriving in the district.
On the stalling of the screening of Dilwale movie, he said the administration had failed to control some unruly elements.
Corporator Azeez Kudroli, JD(S) MLC candidate Praveen Kumar Jain and others were present.
