MLC Ivan unhappy over Deepavali controversy, venue shifted

Mangaluru Oct 27, 2016: MLC Ivan D Souza unhappy over Deepavali celebration controversy after Hindu organization and activists opposed him from celebrating it at Kadri temple

Addressing Media at the MCC on Thursday October 27, he said that it started off with Ifthar Koota where in few people suggested to celebrate Deepavali and Christmas in a similar way and thought of celebrating Deepavali in Shree Kshetra Kadri on October 29.

He further stated that, after coordinating with temple administration and my friend Amith Kadri we decided to celebrate Deepavali at Kadri premises. Since it was a cultural program we filled all the forms and booked the premises at Abhishek Mandir, he added.

But VHP opposed saying that it will defile its sanctity and their contention that no non Hindu can organize any religious program in a Hindu temple and i was not aware it will hurt sentiments of Hindu community . VHP also compared this issue to Puttur invitation row which is two different issues, said Ivan D Souza.

On this note I dont want to create scope for more controversy and shifted the celebration venue to Shri Gorakshaka Hall opposite Kadri Park.
