MLC Ivan seeks fund allocation for various projects in upcoming state budget

Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2015: Ivan D’Souza, MLC has said that he has put forth proposals before the state government for fund allocation to  various projects, in the backdrop of the upcoming budget session beginning from March 13.

Speaking to reporters in the city on February 26, Friday, Ivan said he has sought an allocation of Rs 40 crore for upgradation of Kankanady market Rs @2 crore for four-laning between Pumpwell and Padil, Rs 13 crore for a new building of Women’s Polytechnic, Rs 19 crore for the suspension bridge between Sultan Batheri and Bengre and Rs 100 crore for development of newly included wards in Mangaluru City Corporation.

On the controversial Land Acquisition Bill, Ivan lashed out at the Union government for making incessant efforts to  implement the same at the cost of the farmers and  in the better interests of the corporates.

He said the Congress party was determined to prevent the Bill from being passed. He said the party plans protests against the Union Government moves and will go ahead with its protests once the leadership  gives its green signal.
