MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake exhorts society to follow Mother Teresa’s message of service

Udupi, Aug 17, 2016: A press release issued by the Udupi Catholic Diocese, indicates a programme to mark the installation of a statue of Mother Teresa was held at the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor.  Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, parish priest of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva, and Vicar Forane of Shirva Deanery blessed and dedicated the pedestal and statue of Mother Teresa.

Vinay KumarSpeaking as the chief guest,  MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake,  said the attention of the world was drawn to the country thanks to the dedicated service of Mother Teresa towards the poor, aged and sick.

He said in these times of intolerance, the message of selfless service to humanity that Mother Teresa embodied should reach all members of society. He lauded the gesture of Mohammed Kizar Sheik Goodu and Cyril Noronha in sponsoring the statue.   He also lauded the recent proclamation and dedication of the St. Lawrence Minor Basilica at Attur near Karkala. He said he was happy with the progress of the centre.

In her address, Veronica Carnelio, chairperson of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd., said Mother Teresa had been a spiritual and moral guide to society and her example should remind one and all about their responsibilities towards other fellow human beings.  The mother is set to be canonized in Rome on September 4.
