Mangaluru, Nov 08 2019: Former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo has lashed out at the present MLA of the constituency Vedavyas Kamath over the issue of a housing project at Shaktinagar for the poor.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress office on November 8, Thursday, Lobo said Kamath was trying to mislead voters on the issue.
Claiming that he has not done injustice to anyone, Lobo said with the objective of constructing houses for the poor under Rajeev Gandhi Housing Corporation, he had ensured sanction of 10 acre land at Shaktinagar. But the work was affected due to the Forest Department objection, Lobo said adding Kamath instead of ensuring smooth implementation of the project was trying to create confusion in the minds of voters.
He claimed that works sanctioned during his tenure were being taken up now and that the present MLA was projecting these as his own achievements through banners and flex. He also alleged that Kamath had failed to get new projects sanctioned.
Former Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty and other party leaders were present.
