Mangaluru, May 27, 2016: Mangaluru South MLA inspected the ongoing works of Vanitha Park at Hat Hill in Mangaluru, the only women’s park of the city on May 27, Friday. The project taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 57 lakhs is fast progressing.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that medicinal plants will also be planted in the park apart from flower plants. There will also be an attractive lawn, amphitheatre, children’s play area and musical facility in the park. The park will also be provided with interlocks and public lavatory, he said adding that there was a plan to develop this park into a model park.
The MLA said an additional grant of Rs 25 lakhs may be needed to complete all the pending works relating to the park. A particular time will be fixed for the visit of only women to the park, while all members of general public will be allowed entry to the park during rest of the time of the day, Lobo said.
MCC Joint Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, MCC Deputy Commissioner Shivashankera Swami, Engineers Parvathi Devi, Nityananda, Contractor Moidin and others were present.
