MIA holds Anti-hijack, security mock drills

Mangaluru, Apr 22, 2016: The Airports Authority of India conducted anti-hijack mock drill for an hour at MIA, Mangaluru International Airport earlier in the week.

Airport As per the mandatory direction by the Directorate of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security,  to be equipped to face a real situation, J.T. Radhakrishna, director of the airport, said in a release. In all, 150 staff from the AAI, Police, airlines, National Security Guard, Revenue, Central Industrial Security Force, and Fire and Emergency Service took part in it.

All the members of the aerodrome committee were part of the exercise. The demonstration was done with an ABC Airlines carrying 114 passengers on board along with six crew members.

Preliminary meeting was conducted and the reports were forwarded to BCAS followed by the second meeting where all debriefing was done. The mock drill planning started more than fifteen days back and served the purpose well.
