MCC to bear road under bridge cost at Jeppu-Kutpady

Mangaluru, Nov 2, 2014: The Mangalore City Corporation which had offered to bear the entire estimated amount to construct a road under bridge (RUB) at Jeppu-Kutpady, has released a sum of Rs 3.61 crore to the railway department.

At a formal function in the  Mayor’s chambers, Mahabala Marla handed over a DD to MUDA Commissioner Mohammad Nazeer to be handed over to the railway department. It is for the first time, the MCC has borne the full amount for the RuB project. The railways had said that it would undertake the project, only if the Corporation bears the entire project cost, refusing to take it up on costsharing basis. The MCC had earlier paid Rs nine lakh as centrage charge to the Southern Railway for the proposed bridge.

Speaking after handing over the DD, Mayor Mahabala Marla said that the 30 years old demand of the residents of Jeppu-Kutpady-Dhota to construct a bridge will be realised soon.  The work will commence early in 2015 and will be completed at the earliest. The bridge will provide road connectivity to the public and a link to national highway.
