MCC services to go fully online in a year’s time: JR Lobo

Mangaluru, Aug 8, 2015 : Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo has said that the process of fully computerising the functioning of the Mangaluru City Corporation office at Lalbagh is underway and is expected to  be complete in another year.

Speaking to media men at his office here on August 8, Saturday, he said  payment of water bills, taxes, submission of   applications for birth and death certificates as well as trade licence would be made online. He also informed that this move would bring about more transparency.

The MLA also spoke about the plans to develop crematoriums. Referring to the problems at Kadri crematorium, he said  a grant of Rs 70 lakh has been received from the government and  steps would be taken to develop the crematorium.

On the problem  in the electric cremation machine at Boloor, he said a company has been asked to repair it and the work is expected to be complete in six months. Regarding the problems at Nandigudda crematorium, Lobo said a meeting would be convened with MCC officials to discuss the issue and steps would be taken towards proper maintenance of crematoriums.

He also spoke about the plans to construct a Ranga Mandir at Kadri at a cost of Rs 27.5 lakhs under the initiative of local corporator Ashok DK.

Lobo also elaborated on various other pending project proposals for which funds are yet to be sanctioned from the government.  He further spoke about the 42 projects including Kadri park development, Pumpwell bus terminus proposal, development of multi-layered parking facility in old bus stand at Hampankatta,  Tannirbavi  to Sultan Battery suspension bridge etc.

He said the   proposal to start urban health centres  to start evening classes in KPT, handing over of ESI Hospital to Union Government,  construction of a central jail in Mudipu, appointment of traffic wardens, stationing of reserve rapid action force near Yekkar etc are pending approval of the government.

Lobo also stated that much of the problems facing the city at present would be solved once the projects in the pipeline are implemented.
