Mangaluru, May 23, 2015 : The Communist Party of India (Marxists) staged a protest in front of the MCC - Mangaluru City Corporation on May 22, Friday accusing the ruling Congress in the corporation council for not providing required basic administration.
Addressing the workers present Sunil Kumar Bajal, secretary, city unit of the party, said that the Town Hall had been closed for repairs for the past seven months. It had affected many cultural organisations and performers as they do not have any official platform to perform.
He alleged that the development works in the city had come to a standstill. He demanded that the Congress Councillors resign. Dayananda Shetty, a councillor, said that the corporation was collecting solid waste management cess from 2015-16 in an unscientific manner as it was based on built-up area of a building, which is absurd. He urged that the ward development fund of the councillors not been released since a year be released without any more delay.
