Mangalore Today News Network

mannaguddaMangaluru, May 21, 2017: Is it really a big surprise? Given PM Modi’s working principles - NO. Following a letter from Prime Minister’s office,  Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) constructed a permanent barrier wall to a drainage at Mannagudde in the city recently to prevent soil erosion.

Mannagudde Kantharaj Lane resident Praveen Chandra requested  MCC to construct a permanent barrier wall to the one of the side of the drainage located in front of his residence as it collapsed following heavy rain fall last year. However, the MCC remained silent over the issue after depositing some sand filled bags as a temporary solution to the problem.

Following irresponsible attitude of MCC, Praveen Chandra brought the issue to the notice of the prime minister’s office through Prime Minister’s office portal on October 3, 2016. After scrutinizing the request, PM office asked MCC on March 18 to take necessary action on the matter immediately and to provide information to PM office and complainant on the measures taken by it on the request submitted. Following the direction from PM office, MCC officials immediately took action and constructed a permanent barrier wall to one of the side of the drainage to prevent further soil erosion.
