The move comes to tackle the street dog menace which has seen a rise in Panambur, Bunder and Kudroli and several places in city. The city Corporation has assigned the work of controlling street dogs to Animal Care trust, which works by administering medicine to the street dogs twice in a week to prevent breeding/reproduction .

The trust keeps the dogs with them for a period of ten days and they are set free. A mark is made on the ears of such dogs.

The trust volunteers have often cited confusion if the dog caught happens to be a street dog or pet dog. The corporation intends to bring about the rule to clear the confusion. The rule will lay down conditions for rearing of dogs. The danger posed by dogs on the street is a concern for all concerned.
